ALBANY- Helen Ann (Pilatich) Askew, 86 of Albany, N.Y. passed away peacefully on March 17, 2023, at Ross Memorial Nursing Home in Georgia, where she had been a patient. She was born in Alsen, N.Y. on September 30, 1936, the beloved daughter of the late Joseph Pilatich Sr. and Anna (Hajec) Pilatich. Helen worked for N.Y.S. for 42 years in various positions, the latest being with the Department of Transportation. Helen was an avid BINGO player and loved having her nieces and nephews join her in playing the game. Helen was married to the late Howard (Bob) Askew.
Helen is survived by her sisters Josephine Balfe, Katherine Dimler, Mildred Dagner, Mary Hough; and her brother Stephen Pilatich. She is also survived by her many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by siblings: John Pilatich, Louis Pilatich, Joseph Pilatich Jr., Anthony Pilatich, Jane Pilatich, Carol Weideman. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Her funeral service will immediately follow at 6pm. Helen will be laid to rest at 10am on Monday, March 27th at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
