John William Chastain, 74, of Cartersville, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2024, at Townsend Park Health and Rehabilitation Center after a lingering illness. Born on June 29, 1950, he was the son of the late Everett John Chastain and Alice Chastain Barron. He had a passion for car racing, John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies, and Gunsmoke. He loved going to the Blue Ridge Mountains and enjoyed joking around, making people laugh, and being a prankster.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Everett Chastain. Survivors include his children, Jason Chastain (Theresa), Mysti Jonathan, and Kevin Phillips (Kandia); his sisters, Mary Ann Coker (J.L.) and Cathy Vaughn (Vernon); 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Georgia Funeral Care, Acworth, GA, with David Williams officiating.
