Harry C. Kittle

Harry Clyde Kittle, 81, of 19 Woodview Drive, Cartersville, died Sunday, December 3rd in Rome, GA due to extended illness. He was born January 8, 1936 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Clyde R. and Alverna Corter Kittle. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Charles Kittle, sister Erla Kittle Thompson, and infant daughter Carey Kittle.

The family later moved to Buffalo, NY where Harry grew up and graduated  from Depew High School. He moved to Atlanta, GA after graduation, and attended Georgia Tech University for two years and Georgia State University for two years while working. Harry was a mechanical design engineer for most of his career. He worked for Scripto, Lockwood-Green, Simons-Eastern, Applied Engineering & Science, Inc. and Lovable. He owned and operated Kittle and Associates doing contract design work for various companies. He also owned Bench Mark Cabinets, Inc. designing and building cabinets. Lamplighter was his home business for many years. He enjoyed building and repairing lamps. Harry worked for Home Depot as a kitchen designer and worked in other areas of the business before retiring in 2014.

Harry loved the Lord and was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a kind hearted, gentle man with a very dry wit. He was skilled with his hands, whether it was playing stringed instruments, repairing lamps, wood carving, or building things. He loved music and enjoyed singing with the Etowah Valley Chorale. He was especially fond of harp music.

He also loved his large family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Melody Nivens Kittle, and his four children, 11 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren:  Kaye Kittle Howell and her children Jennifer Guy Hawkins, Trace Howell (Jena) and their children Isaac and Evelyn, and Taylor Howell; Robert Kittle (C.J.) and their sons Wyatt and Will; Mark Kittle (Janice) and their children Adrian Rogers, his daughter Kennedy; Sean Rogers (Cristin) and their daughters Charlotte and Tilly; Tashana Rogers-Lombardo (Chris) and their daughter Riley; Jeff Kittle (Shelley) and their daughters Olivia, Caroline, and Addie. Also one very special nephew, Kenny Thompson (Danielle) and their children Taylor, Matt, and Robert Wayne. He is also survived by his five stepchildren and their families: Claire (Jamie) and their children Sara Kate and Sam; Julie Cannady (Ron) and her daughter Macy Burns; Kimberly Gerard (Stephen) and their children Carter Greene, Evan Greene, and Madison Gerard; Karen Baker (Joe) and their children Luke, Jack, and Haley; and Brad Nivens.  A memorial service to celebrate Harry’s life will be held Monday, December 18th at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cartersville with visitation at 2:00pm and the service at 3:00pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Advocates for Bartow’s Children, or the Salvation Army.
