Mary Magdalene Combs, 89

Mary “Mag” Magdalene Combs was born in Lookout, KY October 31, 1928. She entered Heaven’s gates on December 14, 2017. Born to Amos and Zellia Mercer Gayheart one of Nine Children.

A consummate mother and homemaker, Mag was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years she collected a large library of cookbooks and recipes. With a smile to brighten the darkest of days. Lovely sweet woman, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother , sister and friend. Mag was of Baptist faith and had an unwavering faith in God. Mag was predeceased by her loving husband William “Red” Kanis Combs. They were married November 4, 1948.  Along with her parents she is predeceased by two brothers, Ishmael and Hershel “Bud” Gayheart and a sister Irene Gayheart.

Mag is survived by her eight children Son’s; Bobby (Nata) Combs, Greg(Angela) Combs, Rick (Eileen) Combs, Nonnie Combs, Jeff Combs, all of Cartersville, GA; Bill (Ivanet) Combs of Adairsville, GA; Mike (Norma)  Combs of Amelia, OH and one daughter Brenda Jordan of Cartersville. Mag is survived by eleven grandchildren; Brook (Eric)Brookshire, Cammie Franklin, Mandi (Greg) Nicholson, Rebekah Combs, William (Amanda)Combs all of Cartersville, GA; Sarah (Zane) Clifton of Calhoun, Amber (Chris) Carter of Yulee, FL; Leslie Combs of Amelia, OH; Daniel (Mindy)Combs of Rome, GA; Scott (Kayla) Walker of Adairsville, GA and Richard Vanier of FL. Lastly, she is survived by 16 Great grandchildren along with her siblings; Anna Mae (Paul) Smith and Corrine Collins both of Warner Robins, GA; Marty (Jim) Henry and Carl Gayheart of Fairborn, OH and Herma Bargo of Ann Arbor, MI. 

The family gives Affinis Hospice and everyone else who cared for Mag their greatest gratitude. Mag’s son Greg and his family aided with her care over the past several months during this time and we are forever grateful to you. 

The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 11:00-1:00 at Faith Baptist Church on 1024 Mission Rd. Cartersville, GA 30120. A funeral service celebrating her life will be following the viewing on December 19, 2017 at !:00 PM and burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery. Georgia Funeral Care & Cremation Services at 4671 S Main St, Acworth, GA 30101 oversee Funeral arrangement for Mrs. Combs.
