Beverly Ann Hadden

Beverly Ann Hadden passed peacefully at home on April 12, 2019 at the age of 79. She was the only child of Isabel and Charles (Chile) Boyer of Elburn, Illinois. She grew up in Elburn and then attended Illinois State Normal University where she earned a degree in Elementary Education.  Following graduation she and three college mates drove to California where each of them accepted teaching positions. While in California Beverly met, fell in love with, and married her husband, Lon, a lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. They remained married until her death which occurred one day following their fifty-fifth anniversary. When Lon resigned his commission in the Marine Corps in 1966, the couple moved to the Atlanta area and have lived there ever since. Beverly loved to play the piano and spent many years playing for the youth choir at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church.

For ten years Beverly was a very active member of the Dekalb County Jaycettes receiving numerous awards for her work on various community service projects.  She played an exceptionally active roll in the lives of her children including attending all athletic events with her two sons and all band activities for her daughter. Then same interest carried over to her two grandchildren; Jake and his athletic undertakings which were primarily track and cross-country running and Cadey, cheerleading and dance.  In addition to the interest in the physical activities of Jake and Cadey she was very proud of their high level of academic achievement.

Beverly loved watching golf on TV and especially enjoyed attending the Masters tournament. She was an avid fan of college football and basketball (particularly if GA TECH was involved). Beverly also loved playing bridge.  She made several trips to the Florida coast with her friends.  Not for the sun and surf but to play bridge. She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Lon Hadden; her three children, Bob Hadden, Chuck Hadden, and Julie Barclay; Deborah Hadden, Chuck's wife and whom Beverly called her second daughter and Seth Barclay, Julie's husband whom Beverly called her third son.

A Memorial Service will be held April 20 at 1 PM at 4671 S Main St, Acworth, GA 30101.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
