Gina Lou Anne Woods

Gina was born on November 27, 1961 and passed away on February 27, 2019. She is survived by her mother, Mary Ann Acosta, her beloved sister Caroline Rochelle Gearhart, and the love of her life, Greg Woods.

Also included are beloved family members brother in law Ryan Gearhart, niece Stella Gearhart, nephew Joe Gearhart, cousins Renee Acosta, Annette Lorilli, Carmen Acosta, Vicky Acosta, and Angie Acosta, her mother in law Erika Woods, brother in law Tom Woods, and beloved friend Walter Halaberda, husband of Mary Ann.

Gina spent most of her early life in Michigan and California. As a girl, Gina developed a crush on David Cassidy of the Partridge Family. She went to a concert to see him and had a great time but was a little miffed that the rest of the Partridges were not there. She was convinced that Danny Bonaduce played bass and that Susan Dey played keyboards and sang backup.

She was athletic in school and concentrated on gymnastics. She was also a cheerleader at her school. After several years, the company that Gina was working for offered her a transfer to Marietta GA. That is where she met and married Greg Woods. She loved her grandparents and visited them often in Marion Illinois. Gina was very outgoing and loved to travel and meet new people and see new places. Gina and Greg made several trips to Europe. Greg’s job included travel and on many occasions Gina was able to join him including a trip to Tokyo. Gina also had several trips to Europe with her sister Caroline and mother in law, Erika.

In 2001 Gina earned a Masters of Arts in Professional Writing and went on to teach at Kennesaw State University, Coosa Valley Technical College and Highland Community College. She also English as a Second Language at several other colleges in Georgia. Gina’s battle with cancer was overwhelming and through it all she showed amazing courage and spirit. Gina will always be remembered as a kindhearted and fun loving person. We miss her terribly and always will.

Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church located at 183 W. Main St, Cartersville GA. 30120 on Saturday, March 23 at 10: 00 a.m. She will then be laid to rest at Church at Liberty Square Cartersville where her ashes will remain next to her father Francisco Acosta.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that anyone so inclined to donate to either the First Presbyterian Church in Cartersville or the Human Society. Please specify that the donation is in memory of Gina Woods.
