Jacqueline Frances “Jackie” Woods, née Behlmer

Jacqueline Frances “Jackie” Woods, née Behlmer, age 92, beloved wife of the late Edward T. “Eddie” Woods for 69 years, died peacefully in her home on December 7, 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Daughter of the late Louise Herdling Behlmer and John Frederick Behlmer.  Preceded in death by her sister Mary “Mae” Behlmer Boyd.

She is survived by her six children: Edward Jr. (wife Jennifer), Craig Paul (wife Kathy, children Craig Michael (wife Molly), Shannon Woods Harrell (husband Jonthomas) and Ryan, Warren John (partner Stephen), Mary Louise Woods Martone (husband James, child Nicole Martone Steinmuller (husband Rob)), Florence Ann and Christopher George (wife Patty, children Alison, Christopher and Bonnie).

Jackie was the Great Grandmother of Cora Belle and Cooper Warren Woods, Mila Grace Steinmuller and Gavin and Skyler Harrell (wife Mackenzie). She was a Great Great Grandmother to their daughter Ava Grace.  Jackie is also survived by many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to list, but not forgotten.

In 1950, Jackie married Eddie Woods in Manhattan, New York where they and four of their children were born.  The twins were born after they moved to Brentwood, Long Island. Over the years, Jackie and Eddie resided in parts of Florida, New Orleans and Atlanta. She attended St. Catherine’s Academy for Young Ladies and The Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary.

She was the best Wife, Mother, Sister-in-Law, Grandmother, Aunt and friend to anyone lucky to have known her. When her children were old enough to manage on their own, she worked at the Todd Travel Agency and then substituting throughout the Brentwood School system. Her spaghetti sauce and turkey dressing were legendary. She loved her kids unconditionally, saying “a child is a child is a child”. Jackie was an original groupie, being a Frank Sinatra Bobby Soxer.

Jackie loved adventures and instilled the importance of education unto her family.  At one Student Award Assembly, Jackie was singled out as someone worthy of special recognition as two of her children had perfect attendance that year. Jackie and Ed traveled many times to Europe, especially enjoying Ireland, England and Spain and throughout Australia.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

The family is very grateful to the residents and staff at Aspen Village Senior Living for their support and the care provided by Amedisys Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity in Jacqueline Woods’ name.

Jackie, Mom, and Grandma: we will miss you.
