William Joseph Torella III

William Joseph Torella III, age 75, passed away at his home in Marietta, GA surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 13, 2019 after a four-month battle with bone cancer. He was born on December 13, 1943 in Union, NJ to William J. Torella II and Eva S. Cistaro. William, who was known as Bill to his friends and family, was a veteran of the United States Army, an avid reader, a lover of doo-wop music, and a classic car enthusiast. During his military service, Bill was stationed at Fort Drum, NY, where he met his wife, Krystal Mary Kosztowski (deceased), of Carthage, NY. Following his military service, Bill worked as a professional truck driver and was a proud member of the Teamsters. It was in Carthage, NY where Bill and Krystal raised their three daughters on a 300-acre farm. They were also the owners of Torella’s Pizzeria, which was located in downtown Carthage. In retirement, Bill worked part-time at the Cobb Antique Mall, and was a member of the ROMEO and Cadillac car clubs, where he met many of his closest friends. Known for his intellect and charm, Bill was an amazing conversationalist and touched so many people during his 75 years. He is survived by his three daughters, Krystine Torella, Keredith Basham, and Nina Torella-Jackson, all of Marietta, GA, his stepson, Justin Davis of Austin, TX, his brother, Michael Torella of Marietta, GA, his niece, Tara Torella of Marietta, GA, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and too many cousins to list. A graveside service is planned for Monday, October 21st at 11:00 AM at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. There will also be a Holy Mass held in Bill’s memory on Tuesday, October 29th at 12:00 PM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Dallas, GA, with a luncheon held in the reception hall following Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 680 West Memorial Drive, Dallas, GA 30132.
