Richard Lee DeVries, of Mableton, GA, born May 9, 1933 in Mitchell County, Iowa, died March 20, 2023 in the comfort of his own home. 

He is survived by his wife Shirley (Calkins) DeVries, his children, Rick DeVries (Becky), Cynthia Kelley, Michelle Denney (Daniel), and Mike DeVries, along with 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  Mr. DeVries retired from the Air Force after more than 20 years of service during both Vietnam and Korea working in aircraft maintenance.  After his military service he moved to Mableton, GA and worked for 5 years as a safety engineer for Southwire, then Martin Marietta for 4 years in the same capacity.  He then moved to Germany with his wife and worked as a forklift operator for the Army for 5yrs before moving back to Mableton, GA to retire.  Mr. DeVries loved to square dance, loved his family and his church. 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023, 11:00 AM, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 2111 Lower Roswell Rd, Marietta, GA  30068.  There will be a short viewing and visitation at the church prior to the service at 10:00 AM.  Mr. DeVries will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 2:30 PM, later that day.  Full Honors will be performed by the Air Force. 

In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be made to "Little Lambs Fund" at Faith Lutheran Church.  The DeVries family was served by Georgia Funeral Care, in Acworth, GA, an affiliate of Veterans Funeral Care.
