Sue Solomon Ray, 91, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 21, 2017. She was born in Eutaw, Alabama, in 1925, to Emmett and Theodosia Solomon. She attended Greene County High School and Huntingdon College. Sue devoted her life to her family and her greatest joy was spending time with them. She was kind and gentle with a beautiful smile and twinkling blue eyes. A true Southern lady.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, William E. “Bill” Ray. She is survived by her three sons, Butch Ray (Becky), Steve Ray (Melisa), and Bob Ray, her daughter Beverly Grundhoefer (John), nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two brothers, two sisters, two sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, whom she all loved very much.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 2061 Patton Chapel Rd., Birmingham, Alabama, with a graveside service following at Elmwood Cemetery, 600 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, in Birmingham. The family is requesting that any memorial donations please be made to Rainbow Omega, 100 Hope Drive, Eastaboga, Alabama 36260.
