Bobby Joe Adams, 83, Veteran, of Cartersville, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 26, 2019 after a brief illness. Bob was straight forward with stellar morals and ethics. Typically, he told a story upon greeting you and was a serious local history buff. One of Bob's impressive traits was his devotion to family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Bob was born on February 13, 1936 in Bartow county, to Floyd Franklin Adams and Laura Elizabeth Cochran. After graduating from Cartersville High School, he worked at Lockheed Corporation, Marietta, Georgia, as Head Foreman of his division. He then opened his own business, Bob's Tune-up Shop, in Cartersville, where he specialized in auto body work/refinishing as well as auto repair.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Adams of 33 years, children Donny Adams, Staci Adams Hester, Donovan Tucker (Carrie), Dondra Perkins (Landon), sister Peggy Stansfield of Mississippi and Frances Wolf of Cartersville. He is also survived by grandchildren Barrett Hester, Grace Adams, Evan Hester, Chloe Warren, Claire Tucker, & Emberly Perkins. An additional grandchild, Lincoln Perkins, is due in August, 2019. He is also known and loved as granddaddy by Conner, Addison, Brantley and Easton New.
A visitation and Celebration of Life Service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Cartersville, 241 Douthit Ferry Road by Pastor Danny Barker, on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 3:00 pm. The Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 until 3:30, PM. A graveside service, including full military honors will follow at 4:00 PM. This service, for immediate family members, will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Cartersville. The family will appreciate floral arrangements sent to the church or contributions to the VA Medical Center Business Office, c/o Donations, in honor of Bob Adams, 1670 Clairmont Road, Atlanta,Ga 30033. Arrangements are being handled by Georgia Funeral Care and Cremation Services.
