Ryan McCoy

Ryan McCoy of Acworth, Georgia, died Christmas morning at the age of 49. Ryan was born October 12, 1972, on March Air Force Base, California, to William McCoy and Cheryl (Hermsen) McCoy. After living in several states he spent his adolescent and teenage years in Wyoming and graduated from East High School in 1990.

He met his partner in life, Heather, in 1993, and shortly after they moved to Colorado for a time, then made Georgia their home where they welcomed their daughter Madelyn born in 2006.

Ryan started his career life as a travel agent, which led to various careers in travel and business, eventually becoming an international business consultant. He earned his Masters of Business from Georgia Institute of Technology and went on to work for several international companies, traveling the world over and making friends wherever he went.

Ryan recently joined his local Cobb County Rotary club and was elected and later sworn in as chapter president. He greatly enjoyed being part of an organization where he could actively be the altruistic and giving person he has always been.

Ryan loved to travel, people, Legos, Star Wars, the latest in electronics and luxury vehicles, and above all, family, and none more than his daughter Madelyn.

Ryan was preceded in death by his grandparents and father and is survived by Heather and Madelyn, his mom Cheryl Williams and stepdad Lloyd Williams, sister Megan Akers and husband Scott Akers, two nephews, and many cousins, aunts, and uncles, and loved ones.

The family asks that those in attendance wear something green in memory of Ryan’s favorite color, and in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Madelyn’s college fund, or a charity of your choosing in Ryan’s honor.

Services will be held on January 6th, 2022, at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church of Kennesaw. Please note local ordinances require all those in attendance to be masked while indoors.
