John Roy Harris, age 73, of Cartersville, GA, passed away August 9, 2018.  He was born on October 15, 1944, in Bartow County. He was the son of the late Carl E. and Vaudie S. Harris.  He was a Jehovah’s Witness and enjoyed talking to others about the Bible.  He was a great carpenter. He had a passion for racing homing pigeons and loved fishing and the outdoors.  

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shryl Harris, his children, Diane Hawkins (Jeff), Leslie Sloan Bush (Steve), Joshua Harris (Keiri), and Stanton Harris, his sisters, Mickey McClure, Nellie Ann Clark, Laura Coker, Clara Moran, Ruby Register and Ruthie Jewell, grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Cecley Harris and Mary Jo Adcock and 3 brothers, Grady Harris, Carl Harris, Jr. and Frank Harris.  

There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, August 18, at 2:00 pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, at 811 West Ave, Cartersville, GA.  The family will receive friends at the Hillendale Clubhouse at 150 Old Mill Rd.
