Lonney Joe Payne

Lonney Joe Payne who was born on July 22, 1934, passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones Debra Payne, and his goddaughter, Rebecca Jo Hernandez-Payne.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother and father, George and Mavis Payne, his sister Doris Payne Day, and his brother Carlis Payne. Joe, a retired Navy veteran who served during the Korean War, received numerous medals for his service.

Following his military career, he was a major influence in the Atlanta Cultured Marble Industry and later with Walgreens constructing pharmacies all over the southern states.

He is survived by his sons, George Duke Payne, Frederick Jackson Payne, and Eugene Shelton Payne, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his dear siblings, Jimmy Payne, George Payne, and Patty Aldridge.
