Marlin "Bud" Smith

Marlin "Bud" Smith, 84, passed away Saturday, June 9th, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Smith  and Margaret (Sweaney) Smith,of Delhi Iowa,  his wife of 57 years, Betty Lou (Vernon) Smith, his siblings, Margaret "Sis" Anderson and David Smith, and his 2 daughters Kathleen Ritter and Penny Smith.  He is survived by 4 of his children, Terry (Kathy) Smith, Julie (Joe) Funk , Lisa Holmes Brandon, and Scott(Ana) Smith, 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Bud was born in Delhi Iowa on December 16th, 1933. He attended Delhi Consolidated High School.  After he and Betty married in 1952, he started his career as a draftsman and mechanical engineer.  He was proud to have invented and patented machinery parts. He later moved his family to Illinois and received his MBA from Indiana Northern University. He also moved his family to Cedar Falls where he was an engineer for John Deere. He retired in Ellijay, Ga. At the time of his death he was living in Roswell, GA.

A small burial service is planned for June 30th at 1pm. at the Delhi Cemetary.  A luncheon will immediately follow at the Delhi United Methodist Church.
