Kermit J. Babin, Sr.

Kermit J. Babin, Sr., a resident of Dallas, GA, former longtime resident of Baton Rouge, La. and a native of Donaldsonville, La., passed away July 26, 2018 at age 80 as a result of dementia as well as the effects of diabetes, cardiac & kidney issues. This obituary was written by Kermit in 2012!

His first job was working in his dad’s store, called The Donut Shop in Donaldsonville. He worked for Stauffer Chemical Company and retired from Leeds and Northrup Instrumentation as a service technician. After retirement, he worked part time at Precision Industries for his friends Huey & Maureen Yaun. He was an Army veteran and will have his ashes buried at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA, Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 9:30a.m.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Babin (of Port Allen, La) and Yvonne Landry Babin Self (of Donaldsonville, La). 

He is survived by his wife Annelle Reese Babin of Dallas, Ga (formerly of Baton Rouge, La.) and a very special stepdaughter Stacey Stafford Lucas, husband Bill and children William & Logan of Acworth, GA. He is also survived by his son Kermit (Joey) Babin, Jr., wife Missy and their children Cassidy and Hannah of Kingwood, TX.; his daughter Jean Monique Babin Gibson, husband Scott and their children Arthur and Forrest of Austin, TX.; his brother Marvin Paul Babin and wife Nina of Rogersville, AL. His faithful cousins Lloyd Ramirez and wife Audrey of Diamondhead, MS and Gordon & Linda Hebert of Metairie, La.  And lifelong friends Robbie Acosta of Melbourne, FL, Charles (Coop) Wiggins of Fortson, GA and Larry Perkins of Beaumont, TX. 

And wonderful Georgia Bulldogs neighbors Randall & Joan Minter. 

He enjoyed woodcarving, cooking, eating out and spending time with William and Logan, especially attending all of their school and sports events. He attended Ascension Catholic High School, Tulane & LSU and was an avid LSU fan!

In lieu of flowers, Kermit said, “take a very young or very old person out to eat at the restaurant of their choice” or a memorial donation can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
