Ronald B. Decker

Ronald B. Decker, 61, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 26, 2016, from coronary artery disease resulting in heart failure. He was born to Blair and Josephine (Judy) Decker on September 23, 1955, and will be remembered as a world-class friend and father with a hearty laugh, who could fix just about anything, and was said by all who knew him to be a genuinely nice guy. He enjoyed boating on Lake Allatoona, rock music, playing his guitar and creating beauty through whatever medium he was working with at the time.

Ron is survived by his wife, and best friend of nearly 40 years, Lisa C. Decker; daughter Michelle Decker and her life companion, Ronnie Helms; daughters, Brittany and Hayley Decker; two grand-daughters, Malina and Karina Helms; mother, Josephine Decker; sister and brother in-law Lorraine and Dwight Meredith; brothers, Richard and Thomas Decker; and his mother-in-law, Catherine Silverman; brother-in-law, Bryan Silverman; sister-in-law, Renee Silverman; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Blair Decker, and his father-in-law, Fred Silverman, who were surely there to welcome him to Heaven, and to play another round of gin rummy, their favorite group pastime.

Ron grew up in Burlington, NJ, but spent the majority of his life in South Florida where he and his wife, Lisa, lived for 27 years as they raised a loving family and built their family business, Classic Counters of Palm Beach, LLC. They sold the business and relocated to the Atlanta area in 2005, where Ron worked to instrumentally build successful commercial project divisions for several companies in the solid surface and granite business.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 4th, 2017 at the Georgia Funeral Care facility located at 4671 S. Main St., Acworth, GA 30101. There will be an open visitation from 12-2 pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2 pm. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Gathering at their home following the services.

Please express condolences for the family in the comments section below. The Benedict family is being cared for by Georgia Funeral Care and Cremation Services, Acworth, Georgia.
