Andrew Joseph Dropp

May 17, 1968 — September 16, 2025

Kennesaw, GA

Andrew Joseph Dropp, of Kennesaw, GA, passed away surrounded by his family at Kennestone Hospital on September 16, 2025 at age 57.

Andrew Dropp was a superhuman force of love, wisdom, and strength. While he  could be described as a sci-fi, kindle-carrying superfan and an air guitar aficionado, he truly was best known for being a big man with a bigger heart. Over the course of his life, Andrew was a man of service – to his country, his family, and his friends. He was well known for his incredible work ethic and as an essential member of his work communities.

His military career as a Navy Corpsman garnered him many honors including graduating Biomedical Technical Engineering school first in his class and accolades from the Marines he served with in the Afghanistan War. He retired in October of 2012 after 20 years of service, took the weekend off, and began working for GE Healthcare at Emory leading a team of biomedical engineers the next Monday.

Andrew did not follow success, he created it. After ten years of consistent advancement at GE Healthcare at Emory, he followed his dream of giving up the Atlanta commute and began working as the Technical Coordinator at Zwick-Roell until his passing. His friends at Zwick were among his closest, and Drew quickly became part of their work family.

Beyond his career, Andrew was a dedicated member of his family, a champion of his children’s endeavors, fierce board game competitor, and he loved to take his family on vacation to Jekyll Island where they would all bird watch, golf, and spot dolphins on the beach. Andrew was more than a “good dad.” Gina and Noah were the center of his world, and he made the out-of-reach within reach for them every day.

Andrew was also an avid reader, with favorite authors including Dan Brown, Deborah Harkness, Robert Ludlum, Tom Clancy, and Diana Gabaldon, and he existed in the perpetual joy he found in blues music. Andrew loved music and playing guitar, and if you were lucky, he would share several of his well-curated playlists with you, which certainly included his favorites – Rush, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Santana, and Joe Bonamassa to name just a few.

Andrew is survived by his children, Gina Marie Dropp and Noah Patrick Dropp; the mother of his children and former wife of 32 ½ years, JoAnn LoVerde-Dropp; his loved siblings and their spouses, Christopher (Lori) Dropp, Donna (Michael) Trczienski, Daniel (Charly Zawacki) Dropp, and Dabney Dropp; nieces and nephews CJ, Alison, Lucien, and Hazel, and his father, Joseph Dropp. Among several grandparents, aunts, and uncles, Andrew was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Edith Dropp, and his grandmother and guardian angel, Stella Dropp, who raised him for most of his life.

A memorial service led by Reverend Kelli Hitchman-Craig will be held on Andrew’s birthday, Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 1 – 4 pm at Georgia Funeral Care at 4671 S Main Street in Acworth, GA. Military honors will begin promptly at 1pm.

Andy, we miss you dearly, and we miss you every day.
