Angela Marie Matos

Angela Marie Matos of Adairsville, GA passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 44 years old. Angie will truly be missed by everyone that knew her. Born in Garden City, Michigan, she was the Beloved Wife of Eric (Enrique J) Matos, and Loving Mother to Emily Marie Ragsdale and Elizabeth Marie Matos. Angie was the cherished daughter of Jacqueline (Appie) Rannow and Michael S. Appie (Christi C), daughter-in-law to Henry Matos (Olga), baby sister of Anthony Appie (Kanlayarat “Aoo Kelly”), James Appie (Kimberly Steinbach), Joseph Appie (Jantima “Fon”), sister-in-Law of Danielle Matos and stepsister to Christi D. Wier (Paul) and William (Rosa) Byrd. She was also the loving aunt to her nieces and nephews and much loved by her aunts, uncles as well as numerous cousins, lifelong friends, and neighbors. Angie was preceded in death by her grandparents, John & Marjorie LaTour and Frank & Doris Appie.

Angie never knew a stranger! She was a true Leo and to know her was to love her. From the time she was little, she made friends easily and her family was the most important thing in her life. Her devotion to Eric, Emily and Elizabeth was unwavering. One of the happiest recent moments in her life was the day Zack Meadows asked Emily to marry him! Even though she was stubborn at times, she was extremely loyal and generous. She was always willing to lend a hand when needed by a family member, friend, or neighbor. Her outgoing personality and positive outlook on life left a lasting impression on everyone she met, whether it be good or bad.

Angie was also a true animal lover, as evidenced by her many pets over the years. If she found a stray animal, it instantly had a home. Angie played softball, volleyball and soccer growing up and was quite athletic. She loved the outdoors, camping, water sports, swimming, and fishing. She also loved to read and would often be curled up with a book and her pups resting by her. Hallmark movies were a must in Angie’s life, and she would watch them frequently with family and friends. Christmas was her favorite holiday, so much so that we were decorating this year for “Christmas in July”. Angie loved to cook and was always willing to try out a new recipe for her family.

Angie was diagnosed, at the end of April, with stage 4 pancreatic cancer which had already spread to her liver. She fought a courageous battle with bravery and strength and continued to laugh and joke with evaeryone to her last day. She was determined to beat it. But God had a different plan in store for her and called her home. Evidently, He needed another “Angel”. Gone too soon - You will be forever loved and missed.

A celebration of Angie's life will be held Friday, September 11, 2026 at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Georgia Funeral Care 4671 S. Main Street Acworth, GA 30101 A visitation will be held from 11:00AM till funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, the Etowah Valley Humane Society or the ASPCA.
