Ann Berry

Ann Vella Berry was recalled to her creator on 14 February 2023 after a long and loving life. She was born on 27 March 1927 to her parents John and Madeleine (Rueger) Vella, joining her loving older sister Madeleine (to be Dressel in marriage).

Ann was Baptized 17 April 1927 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Ridgewood NY and Confirmed 04 June 1939 at Saint Brigid’s Church in Brooklyn NY.

After graduating Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood NY in January 1945, Ann worked for the Telephone company. She became engaged to Lieutenant John Berry, United Sates Army on 23 April 1952 and married him 28 November 1953. Ann became mother to four children - John, Matthew, Ann, and Mark. She and John raised their children in Wantagh NY and then moved to Easley SC later in life.

In time Ann would become proud Grandmother to 10 and Great Grandmother to 12.

Ann was widowed in 2008 and dedicated herself to volunteering at the hospital for many years thereafter. She moved to Marietta, thence Acworth more recently.

Ann’s life was characterized by faith and love of family. She possessed a love of reading that lasted until almost her last day.

Between her life experiences, faith and insights gained though her love of books, Ann provided loving guidance to her children and was instrumental in facilitating each of their successful lives. We, her children, honor her life and offer incalculable gratitude for the time that we’ve had to enjoy her love and motherly guidance.
