Barbara Ella Tinney

Barbara Ella Tinney, age 91, passed peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. 

Barbara was born in Damascus, Georgia and was raised in Panama City, Florida where she was crowned "Miss Liberty" at the sweet age of 6. She moved back to Damascus after the death of her mother. Then later moved to Atlanta to help care for her great niece, Diane Morris (Bernstein) and great nephew, Tommy Morris. 

 While in Atlanta she went to dental school and met her husband, John E Tinney. They were soon married and remained together until Johnny passed in 2008. They had two daughters Sherrie Carruth and Traci Chute. They were then blessed by Sherrie's sons Channing and Mason. Channing Carruth and his wife Jessi, made her a very proud great grandmother with their kids Asher, Melody Joy and Aisley. Mason Carruth is due to be married in May, then Rebecca and her son Kane will be joining this beautiful family. Traci married Mark Chute and blessed the family with two step children, Emily and Dalton Chute. 

 Barbara had a blessed life where she was always surrounded by her great in laws , The Tinney's, The Harper's, The Cannon's, The Priests and their huge families. She worked in the dental industry for over 50 years until she retired. 

Her heart was always with her Damascus family, The Kimlers and The Webb's, where they spent every summer enjoying the natural spring, horse back riding, cruising country roads in dune buggies, picking peas and shucking corn. These were some of her favorite memories. 

 Barbara was the best wife, mom, aunt, grandmother and friend. She never turned away from anyone needing help and lived her life in that manner. As a team mom, she spent many late hours making uniforms and banners for anyone who asked.

 She is preceeded in death by her mom, Edith Webb; Dad, Zachary Webb; step-mom, Edith Webb; her husband, John E Tinney; brothers, Guy (Liv) and Zach Webb. 

She is survived by daughters, Sherrie Carruth, Traci Chute(Mark); Grandchildren, Channing (Jess) and Mason Carruth; Great grandchildren Asher, Melody Joy and Aisley; Nephews, Guy (Tammy) and Paul Webb; Niece's Edith Webb and Eunice Mckinney. 

Barbara lived a life well lived. She loved to laugh hard and dance a jig at any given chance (she was really good at it). Her favorite last words were always "Don't EVER forget how much I love you"! 

 Her memory and giving spirit will forever live in our hearts. 

Visitation will be May 3rd from 4-7 pm at Georgia Funeral Care, 4671 South Main Street, Acworth, Georgia. There will be a gathering in Damascus on Sunday, May 4th at noon: 8253 Old Damascus Road, Damascus Georgia 39841. Graveside service will be held at 2pm, Old Damascus Cemetery.
