Bennett Hope Vaughn

January 22, 1956 — February 28, 2026

Acworth, GA

Bennett Hope Vaughn finally hung up his tool belt on February 28, 2026, at 4:30 PM, just a few weeks after hitting the big 70. He went out the same way he lived: on his own terms and probably wishing he had more time to finish his grandsons' bookshelf.

Bennett spent his life mastering his craft, but he was best known for the man he was outside the workshop. He was genuine to a fault and spoke from the heart no matter the circumstances, but he would do absolutely anything for anyone in need. Whether you had a leaky faucet, some lotto tickets to scratch, or just needed a story that you only understood about 40% of but laughed with him the whole way through, Bennett was your guy.

He spent decades measuring seven times and cutting once (mostly), building things meant to last. But his best work wasn't made of oak or pine; it was the family he built and the grandsons he absolutely doted on.

Bennett leaves behind his wife and favorite sparring partner, Kathleen “Kitty” Vaughn; his children, Samantha Vaughn, Andrew and Kate Vaughn, and Taylor and Kaitlyn Vaughn; and his precious grandsons, Max and Walker, who officially gave him (Peepaw) a reason to keep fighting.

He was a wonderful man who lived a loud, full, and generous life. He will be deeply missed, though we suspect he’s already up there checking to see where his unsweet tea is and grabbing some scratchers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bennett’s honor to TACT (Teaching Autism Community and Trades). As a lifelong carpenter, Bennett would have been proud to support an organization that empowers individuals through skilled trades. Contributions can be made online at www.buildwithtact.org/donate.
