Bertram Briscoe of Hollis Queens, New York passed away at his home in Dallas, Georgia on June 19, 2023, in his 89th year. Survived by his loving wife Lois of 67 years. Preceded in death by his grandson Robert, and many siblings. Devoted father of Diane, Joanne, Thomas, and Bertram.
Cherished Grandfather of Kathryn, Julie, late Robert; Alan, Justin, Jordan, Jayden, Cameron, Chrystian; Justine, and Lea. Great-grandfather of Sylvia, Nova; Jayden, and Jackson. Fond in-laws Catherine, Joan, George, Patricia, Meta, late Tami. Friend of Donald Hamilton. Bertram, Central Islip - Class of 1952, was a gifted athlete inducted into the Central Islip Sports Hall of Fame for baseball and soccer. He played professional baseball in the Sooner State League, Georgia State League, Kitty League, and Tar Heel League until it folded in 1954. His statistics are recorded in the Baseball Hall of Fame at Cooperstown, New York. He attended an apprentice program and in 1958 became a Journeyman Electrician for IBEW LU #25 retiring in 2000. Bert enjoyed gardening, skiing with family, watching grandchildren play sports, receive awards, attend recitals, and many graduation ceremonies.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be announced at a later date in Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
