Brenda Malee (Frum) Phillips, 85, of Cartersville, Ga., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, creativity, and deep devotion to the people she loved so dearly.
Born on May 18, 1940, in Spencer, West Virginia, Brenda was the daughter of Robert and Ruth Frum. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1958 and later attended business college.
To know Brenda was to experience her sweetness. She had a precious spirit and caring heart that showed itself in countless ways: handwritten cards, handmade jewelry, bookmarks, drawings, and small gestures that made people feel remembered and loved. She instinctively put others before herself.
Her faith in Jesus Christ transformed her life forever. Brenda faithfully pursued the Lord through decades of church involvement, Bible studies, prayer, and Scripture reading. She attended Due West United Methodist Church during the 1980s, later became active at Acworth United Methodist Church, and eventually found a church home at NorthStar Church in Kennesaw, Ga.
Professionally, Brenda was highly respected and accomplished. In the 1970s, she served as a manager at IBM in Baca Raton, Fla., where she excelled in employee relations and organizing staff activities and events. After moving to the Atlanta, Ga. area, she later served as a branch manager and Vice President at Westside Bank and Main Street Bank, where she became known for genuinely caring for her clients and co-workers.
Brenda also faithfully served for nearly 40 years in the Marietta chapter of the American Business Women's Association. She held leadership roles for many years and formed treasured friendships that lasted decades.
More than her accomplishments, Brenda will be remembered for the way she loved. She made people feel special, remembered details others forgot, and quietly served those around her with grace, tenderness, and faithfulness. Her family rejoices in knowing she is now fully healed in the presence of the Savior she loved so deeply.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruth Frum; her husband of 47 years, Charlie Phillips; and her brother, Gary Frum.
She is survived by her son, Charles “C.A.” Phillips (Amy); stepdaughters Lory Lyles (Bob), Dawn Elgin, and Cammy Caruthers (Travis); her grandchildren, Jessica Lowe, Craig Arthur, Taylor Rawls, Cameron McCormick, Chaz Phillips, Lawson Sims, Tori Pittman, and Chandler Phillips; great-grandchildren Samuel Pittman and Jameson Sims; brother Richard Frum, and sister Betsy Messa; and Brenda Glover, who was her close friend, next door neighbor, and caregiver.
Visitation will be held at NorthStar Church in Kennesaw, Ga. on Saturday, May 9 from 10am-12pm, with a Celebration of Life service held at 12pm in the True North Chapel, with Rev. Steve Roach officiating.
Those attending are encouraged to wear anything with flamingos (Brenda’s favorite), the color pink, or anything colorful and cheerful.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NorthStar Church at P.O. Box 1358, Kennesaw, GA 30156.
