Carl Irving Addison Jr.

Carl Irving Addison, Jr, 83, of Marietta, Georgia passed away peacefully on October 4th, 2025 surrounded by his family.


Born on October 24th, 1941 in Longview, Texas, Carl was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend to many. Carl graduated from Longview High School in 1959. He then attended and graduated from The University of Texas - Austin in 1963 with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Carl then recognized a higher calling and enrolled in Officer Candidate School with The United States Navy. After successfully finishing Officer Candidate School, Carl entered active duty with the United States Navy as an Ensign. He was deployed to the USS Merrick for two tours in Vietnam where Carl was promoted to Lieutenant of The Coastal Division 16 aka "No Quarter." For his outstanding service, Carl received three Medals and a Commendation for his service. Carl was honorably discharged in July of 1968.


Following his military service, Carl forged a career in Banking, Finance, and Insurance. More recently Carl continued to serve his community by working for the Cobb County Election Commission. In his free time, Carl loved spending time with his six grandchildren. Any weekend you would find him cheering them on through countless baseball, softball, basketball, and football games. He enjoyed watching his son, Ryan, coach travel baseball and seeing Sean rediscover his love of music in his cover band. A highlight of his week was hanging out with his friends - “The Coffee Commanders."


Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Irving Addison and Margaret Carter Addison, of Longview, Texas.


He is survived by his loving ex-wife, Jane Addison; brother William Addison and wife Melodie and family; brother Randolph Addison and wife Nancy and family; his son Sean Addison and wife Shannon; son Ryan Addison and wife Sarah; and beloved grandchildren Carter, Benjamin, Grady, Emily, Andrew, and Hazel.


Carl will be remembered for his humor, loyalty, devotion, love of his family, and the strong bond with his long-time friends. True to his generous nature, Carl’s loved ones knew he would always be there for them.


Carl will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery, with Military Honors, on his birthday October 24th, 2025 at 9:30am.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Carl's name to the Pope High School Baseball Boosters or The Cobb Veterans Memorial Foundation.


He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
