| Christopher (Chris) Charles Funk, age 60 passed away peacefully at his home after several years of medical complications surrounded by his family in Dallas, Georgia on October 27, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Leigh Funk; three daughters Gisselle, Evelyn, and Gabby Funk; mother Carol Thompson of Fredric, WI; sister and brother-in-law Missey and David Younger and his two nephews Cody Camp and Bryce Younger of New Richmond, WI; aunt Jan Ramsey and dear cousin Theodore Mitchell of Webster, WI. Chris was a proud graduate of Chattahoochee Technical College earning an Associate of Applied Science degree in Information Security. He spent more than twenty-five years as a computer and network technician and then as a Walmart Greeter in his later years. Chris will be remembered for his love of family and animals, especially turtles and rabbits, muscle cars, fishing, watching Wisconsin Badgers football, and his passion for the Green Bay Packers. Chris’ legacy will be the way he showed us how to love unconditionally, never give up, endure life’s challenges, and to be resilient. Chris’ final resting place will be off the coast of South Carolina as part of an Eternal Reef that will help preserve the marine environment for future generations. A private memorial service will be held in North Myrtle Beach with the placement of the reef ball in April. Charitable donations honoring Chris can be made to the Caretta Research Project (https://www.carettaresearchproject.org/). |
