Acworth, GA

Evangeline Louise Rupprecht Lamb, 87, passed away in Acworth, GA on May 6, 2026. She was born on November 22, 1938 in Chicago, IL to Evelyn Hamer and Paul J. Rupprecht. After attending Fort Dearborn Elementary and Calumet High School she started her undergraduate career at Beloit College, then transferred to University of Wisconsin-Madison. According to family legend she was crowned “Miss Posture” while in college. Though we can’t confirm that achievement, such competitions did happen in the 1950s and 1960s and photos from that era suggest she would have been very competitive! She returned to school after her first divorce and earned a Master’s degree at Stetson University.

Highlights of Evie’s working life include owning and operating Sugar Daddy’s, a women’s casual clothing store in quaint Cocoa Village, FL. She also managed a series of Joann Fabrics stores in and near Oak Ridge, TN, where she was known for turning around struggling locations. After her second divorce she became a certified Xerox repair technician in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. A woman in her 50s, she trained for that job alongside the young men she affectionately called her boy scouts. Later in life Evie enjoyed working in the interior design department of Lowe’s Home Improvement in Brevard County, FL until poor health forced her to retire at the age of 74.

Evie took up oil painting as a young mother and showed her work in several arts and crafts street fairs. She also sewed her daughters’ clothing, which they didn’t properly appreciate, and later quilted pillows and blankets and bags, which they did. Evie was a relatively early adopter of personal computers, and in her heyday was day trading on a laptop. She was the first grandmother we knew on social media and was paying her bills online well into her mid-eighties. She loved reading mysteries on her Kindle. An avid chef and a fan of cooking shows, she was especially fond of sweets and baking. Cookies made up a significant portion of her diet. Evie nurtured many porch plants such as avocados, pineapples, and Christmas cacti. Her aloe vera lives on even today and cuttings are available upon request.

Evie lived in and visited many states and travelled -- first with her mother and later with her daughters -- to many countries. When not on those adventures, or organizing class reunions, she lived quietly by the Indian River in Cocoa, Florida. She is survived by her brother, Paul E. Rupprecht of Grant, IL, daughter and son-in-law Heather and Brian Powell of Woodstock, GA, daughter Cyndy Sims and partner Doug Bennett of Bellows Falls, VT, granddaughter Evelyn Powell and partner Eric Warren of Ranger, GA, and two grandsons: Chas Parr of Ellicott City, MD and Shane Parr, of Providence, RI. She was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Ted Langdon of Rockledge, FL. She will be laid to rest in Milton Fields, Georgia, and the immediate family will celebrate her life this summer.
