James Jerry Matthews

James Jerry Matthews Jr., lovingly known as “Jimmy,” passed away on March 22, 2026, at the age of 59. A lifelong resident of Acworth, Georgia, Jimmy was a devoted father, proud PawPaw, and a man whose personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Jimmy is survived by his three children: Shannon Matthews, Staci Matthews, and Cole Matthews. He was a proud PawPaw to Brady Adams, Brianna Powell, and Kayson Matthews, with one more grandson on the way, a blessing he was so excited about. His love for his family was unmatched, and his children were truly the center of his world.

Outside of work, Jimmy had a deep love for woodworking and carving, creating pieces that reflected both his skill and passion. He was also an avid football fan, always enjoying the game.

Jimmy will be remembered for his strong-willed nature, he could be incredibly stubborn, but also for his goofy, lighthearted spirit that brought laughter to those around him. He had a way of making people smile and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

His legacy lives on through his family, who will carry forward his memory, his humor, and the love he gave so freely.
