Johnny Estel McAllister, 82, of Oxford, Georgia, went home to Jesus on Friday, April 24th, 2026, with his daughter and granddaughter holding his hands. Johnny was born on September 25th, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia to Ralph G. McAllister and Maggie Mae Davis McAllister.
He graduated from high school and went on to work at Otis Elevator; then, he moved on to work as a truck driver. He retired from Super Value at age 52. Johnny lived a full life. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, ballroom dancing, bowling on a bowling team, and traveling. Camping was another favorite pastime, often staying at various places a month at a time. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. Johnny was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He became a Christian while a teenager and spent his last years attending services with his daughter and granddaughter at Christ Gospel Church of Atlanta, Georgia. He lived with them for his last three years.
Johnny is survived by: his daughters: Carla McAllister Scott (Lester), Tracy McAllister Johnson; his grandchildren: Blake Johnson (Whitney), Mollie Ann Johnson Garcia (Ernesto); and his great-grandchildren: Alexandra Zamora, Aaylen, Addyson and Ayden Garcia, Logan and Levi Johnson. Additionally, he is survived by the children of his late, wife, Sandra Gladstein McAllister: Jeff Gladstein (Julie) and their children Michael, Mitchell, and Samantha Gladstein, Lori Hanley (Terry) and their children Cassidy King, Nikki Hanley, and several nieces and nephews.
Johnny was preceded in death by his beloved wife and mother of his children, Judy Ann Parker McAllister, his parents Ralph G. McAllister and Maggie Mae Davis McAllister, his brother Tommy McAllister, his sister Joyce Ann Lanier, and his late wife, Sandra Gladstein McAllister.
The graveside service will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens (790 Indian Mounds Road, Cartersville, Georgia 30120) on April 28th at 12 p.m. Flowers may be sent to Georgia Funeral Care (4671 South Main Street, Acworth, Georgia, 30101).
Johnny will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who dearly loved him. His kind heart and sweet spirit will be remembered for the rest of their lives. He may have entered Heaven’s Gates, but he will never leave the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved him.
