Acworth, GA

Joseph Goyette, 87, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away from health complications at his home in Acworth, Georgia. Joseph, or Joe as he liked to be called, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1938 to the late Helen Dalrymple Goyette and Joseph C. Goyette Sr.

He was the oldest son of a family of 9 siblings: Adele, Carolyn, Marie, Ralph, Bobby and Paul of whom preceded him in death and 2 of his younger brothers, Carl and Louis, who survive him. Joseph was married to his loving and caring wife Carol Ann, his wife of 64 years, who passed after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a loving and wonderful father of Jennifer (Johnny) Bollen of Bremen, Georgia, Anne Goyette (Lee Altman) of Smyrna, Georgia. He was the proud grandfather of 4 wonderful grandchildren: Kate Thomas of Sandy Springs, Georgia, Brent (Kylie) Thomas of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, Elizabeth (Robert) Bollen-Calhoun of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Justin (Nicole) Bollen of Bremen, Georgia. He also was a very loving and enthusiastic Great-grandfather to Florence Mae Bollen, Etta Louise Thomas, David McCann Thomas and Alexandra Bollen. 2 more great-grandchildren are arriving later this year, one of whom is a boy and will be named after his great-grandfather. He was also the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews who fondly remember their Uncle Joe.

Working in the manufacturing business for several decades, Joe worked himself from the factory floor to plant manager in the can business, working for Continental Can Company for many years and in several states. An avid hunter, golfer, fisherman and story teller, Joseph liked to do things for himself and prided himself on his resourcefulness and determination. Joseph was an Army Veteran and both his and his wife Carol’s ashes will be interred in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with the immediate family present.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Cincinnati later this summer with his brothers and the extended family to applaud a life well lived.
