Joseph Aden Ward, born on August 15, 1947, in Washington, DC, passed away on October 15, 2026, leaving a legacy of love and dedication to his family, friends, and community. Joe, a master carpenter and locksmith, spent many fulfilling years at Kennesaw State University before enjoying his retirement.
Joe proudly served in the Army, enlisting on February 8, 1967, and reached the rank of E-5 during his service in the Vietnam War. His commitment to his fellow veterans was evident in his active involvement with the VFW Post 2526 in Wheaton, MD, where he created and led the Honor Guard. In Rockmart, GA, Joe embraced life to the fullest. He was a passionate car enthusiast, often seen revving the engines of his beloved antique cars, including his '57 Ranchero, '57 Ford Custom, and his all-time pride and joy-a '74 Blazer. His ranch life brought him immense joy, with cherished moments spent caring for his animals, especially his devoted barn cat, Chester. The thrill of competing on horseback, whether chasing barrels or mounted shooting, was something that always put a smile on his face.
Joe's family meant the world to him. He was happily married to Monetta Ward for 47 wonderful years. His two daughters, Josie Scott and Sara Jo Smith, along with their husbands, Greg Scott and Taylor Smith, brought him endless pride and happiness.
