Julia Dawn Kersey (neé Brown) of Acworth, 64, departed this life on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in the city of Atlanta, GA.
Born on July 25, 1960, in Patuxent River, Maryland to the late Harold W. Brown and Ann Brown (neé Daigle), she attended Brunswick High School. Shortly after graduation, she would marry her husband, Gary A. Kersey, during the summer of 1980. Despite most of her formative years being spent in Brunswick, Ga, Julia would later migrate to Kennesaw in the 1980s, and later Acworth, GA in 1997, where her permanent residence was constructed. She established a career for herself as a reliable accountant and human being, generously giving her time to friends and family whenever the need arose. She always gave help to those who needed it and was known to donate to charities she was both confident in and truly supportive of. In December of 2000, on Wednesday, the early morning of the 13th, she gave birth to her only child, Austin D. Kersey. Julia was a lifelong traveler, with an unmitigated passion and love for life, journeying across the United States (sampling most of the Eastern and Western coasts, as well as parts of the Midwest) and even across the pond in the United Kingdom. She adored cooking and baking for special occasions, or even for simple visits. Julia and Gary bonded and thrived in the kitchen, both of them at their happiest when their loved ones appreciated the fruits of their labor. She was a magnanimous human being, and will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by both of her parents. She is survived by her husband and son, in addition to her brother and sister Ted Brown and Stacia “Stacy” Triplett, as well as their families.
There will be a small celebration of life, the location of which is to be determined.
