Larry Alan Singleton Sr., born on September 11, 1940 in Princeton, IN passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026 at his home in Kennesaw, GA surrounded by loved ones. Larry was a devoted husband to Constance Singleton whom he was married to for 68 years and a loving father to his children Angel Walker (Husband Mike Walker), Larry Singleton Jr. (Partner Beth Costello), and Jeffrey Singleton (Partner Cindy Eriquez), his five grandchildren, and his nine great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Fred Singleton (wife Debbie Singleton).Larry proudly served in the Navy and Naval Reserves from 1958 to 1964, where he earned the rank of E-4 Radioman Petty Officer 3rd Class and ran a broadcast radio onboard a ship from the Sea of Japan. After his service, he began his career at Potter and Brumfield in Princeton, IN creating transistors and relays before he joined IBM in Evansville, IN where he spent a rewarding career as a software engineer until he retired. He made significant contributions during his time including designing the barcode, developing badge readers for the Navy, traveling to teach courses, and consulting in many roles after his time at IBM.An avid fisherman and baseball enthusiast, Larry enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting for mushrooms with his family. He had a deep love for baseball and was a talented pitcher in high school and the Navy, and his heart belonged to the Atlanta Braves. He was able to see one last game before he passed during one of their best seasons to date. Larry also had a passion for tinkering with computers, 3D printing, and carpentry, always eager to learn and create. He was exceptionally capable with all things technical and shared his love for computers and technology and carpentry with his sons. He was a devout Christian, serving as a Deacon for the General Baptist Church in Princeton, IN when his children were young. He also loved his old Chevy S10 pickup truck.Larry Singleton Sr. will be remembered for his love of family and God, how he brought joy to those around him, and his unwavering strength and spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy and fond memories will live on in the hearts of family and friends. He joins his beloved pets Picasso (Pic), Bo, and Katie.Larry was preceded in death by his parents Gaskel Singleton and Pauline Singleton, his siblings Juanita McIntire, Mary Jo Willis, and Jack Singleton and his granddaughter Kayla Pfister Booth.Larry will be laid to rest in the Georgia National Cemetery in a private service with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org or the American Cancer Society at American Cancer Society.
