It was a simple but powerful reflection of the kind of woman she was—someone who put others first without hesitation.

Laura Edith Hill, affectionately known as Tiny, passed away on September 15, 2026, in Cartersville, Georgia. She was born on October 25, 1943, in Spring City, Tennessee. Her life was marked by deep devotion to her family, steadfast love, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew her.

For Tiny, being a wife and mother was her greatest joy. She gave herself wholeheartedly to her home, her husband, and her children, and those closest to her knew that caring for her family was always at the center of her life. Cooking was one of her favorite ways to show that love. She made sure her children had the best meals, and in her home, cereal was never considered an acceptable substitute. She also enjoyed puzzles and crossword puzzles, and found delight in watching Looney Tunes and Perry Mason.

Tiny was known as a generous, loving, and hospitable woman. As a pastor’s wife, she loved deeply and gave freely. Her family remembers how, whenever missionaries came to visit, Tiny and Bobby would give up their own bed so their guests could rest there, while the two of them slept on the sofa. It was a simple but powerful reflection of the kind of woman she was—someone who put others first without hesitation. She also took special care to send greeting cards to anyone she felt needed encouragement. Her home was kept with great pride and care, with everything in its proper place, and she led her family by example in the way she loved, served, and lived each day.

Music also brought her great happiness. The Christmas Channel played often in her home, except when cartoons or Perry Mason had her attention on the television. Her favorite song was Amazing Grace, and her family lovingly remembers that she wore out the rewind button on her car stereo playing it again and again.

One cherished family memory captures the depth of her love for her marriage and family. When school papers came home needing a signature, she would sign them “Mrs. Bobby Hill.” When Rhonda once asked why she signed her name that way, Tiny answered, “That is my name. When I married your dad, we became one.” It was a reflection of the love and unity she shared with her husband throughout their life together.  Another memory that has been shared over the years was told about a time when Tiny was sick and Bobby had gone to the bank to cash his paycheck.  The bank refused to cash it because he had endorsed the back of the check himself.  Over the years, Tiny had always been the one to endorse his signature so he one time that Bobby signed his name, the bank thought the check had been forged.  That is a day the family still laughs about today.

She is survived by her children, Bob Hill; Darwin Hill and his wife Chris; Dawn McPike and her husband Joe; Rhonda Walker and her husband Matthew; Joseph Hill and his wife Brandy; and Jason Hill and his wife Kay. Tiny is survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brothers, Darwin Caldwell and Freddie Caldwell and his wife Jeanette; her sister, Genia Sherman and her husband Charles; her brother-in-law, Claude Jenkins; and her sister-in-law, Sherri Green and her husband Al. Each of them carries forward the memory of her love, strength, and one-of-a-kind example as a mother, sister, and family matriarch.

Tiny was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Hill, her beloved companion of 62 years, and by her brother, Paul Murphy. After a lifetime of devotion to Bobby, her family finds comfort in the thought that they are reunited in Heaven.

A viewing will be held on September 18, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Dewey Baptist Church, 895 Spring Place Rd NE, White, Georgia 30184. A graveside service will follow from 10:45 a.m. at Dewey Baptist Church Cemetery in White, Georgia.

Laura Edith “Tiny” Hill will be remembered for the way she loved passionately, gave generously, welcomed others warmly, and devoted herself completely to her family. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will remain a treasured part of all who knew and loved her.
