Lynn Chance

Jan 20, 1948 — Oct 10, 2026

Cartersville, GA

Norris “Lynn” Chance, 78, of Cartersville, Ga., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and closest friends on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Born in Cartersville, Ga., to Glover and Lula Chance on January 20, 1948, Lynn grew up alongside his brothers David, Tommy, and Johnny.

Lynn married his high school sweetheart on October 15, 1966. This October, they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Their love was a true testimony of endurance, grace, faith, and unconditional devotion to one another. Together, they had three children: Kelly, Autumn, and Adam.

Lynn worked for AT&T and retired after more than 30 years. His memories and stories from those years meant a great deal to him, and he often talked about the coworkers and friends he met during his time there.

Lynn loved God, his family, and his friends deeply. He welcomed people with open arms, and once you were his friend, you were a friend for life. He carried a zest for life that was unmatched. His laugh was contagious, and his loyalty to those around him was unparalleled. He was a jack of all trades—great at most things and a master at some. Lynn was a wonderful artist who could draw and paint most anything. He drew the first Cass Colonel.

Lynn loved cooking in his younger days, and people could often find him at the 4-Way Lunch in town or Cass Grocery when he was working. He enjoyed watching westerns and loved history. He enjoyed classic cars; his favorite was a Shelby. He could also beat you at a game of Jeopardy on TV anytime. Lynn enjoyed life to the fullest in his younger days, and even through years of trials later in his health, he always kept his faith and trust in God. He still checked in on his people, and he still told his legendary stories.

Lynn is survived by his three children: son Kelly Chance of Euharlee, Ga., and wife Chastity, and grandsons Kaleb, Cooper, and Cody; daughter Autumn Chance of Charleston, S.C., and grandson Noah Capodiferro of Asheville, N.C.; and son Adam Chance of Kingston, Ga., and wife Pamela, and granddaughter Adler Grace. He is also survived by his brothers Johnny and wife Carolyn Chance, and Tommy and wife Phyllis Chance; brother-in-law Steve Martin and wife Lisa; and several nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life will be held at Creekside Fellowship Church 585 Old Alabama Road Sunday, October 25, 2026 with Rev. Mike Abernathy officiating. Family and friends may gather at 1:30 p.m. • Service at 4:00 p.m.
