Margaret Mary O'Reilly

Margaret Mary O'Reilly, known to many as "Margie," passed away on July 10, 2026, in Kennesaw, Georgia. Margie was born on January 1, 1953, in Dublin, Ireland, to her late parents, Christopher (Christy) O'Reilly and Elizabeth (Lily) O'Reilly.

A devoted mother, her greatest joy and proudest achievement was her beloved daughter, Danielle Goch Peterson, who was the light of her life. Margie is also survived by her brothers, Gerard and Martin Reilly, and their families who reside in Ireland.

Margie embodied a spirit of passion, independence, and fearlessness. From a young age, she longed to explore the world, traveling extensively in her youth and collecting stories and memories that shaped her life. Though her journeys eventually brought her to the United States, she always carried the deep ties of her Irish heritage with her. After settling in the US in her twenties, she made Georgia her home, where she built most of her adult life.

Margie was a respected professional for decades, and she was proud of her role in Corporate America. She was truly "Super Woman" in her prime. She challenged herself to get a higher education and ultimately found herself trusted to support leaders of many large organizations in Atlanta. A full-time working mom, she could do it all, and she did it with ease. Margie was an excellent cook and found great joy in sharing that passion with her family and friends, often drawing inspiration from her Irish roots. An avid true crime fan and a lover of animals, her beloved dogs were her loyal companions and brought her great solitude during life's hardest times. But more than anything, Margie was a loving mother, and being Danielle's mom was the role she cherished most. She gave her daughter every opportunity she could, teaching her the value of perseverance through both life's joys and its challenges. Through her unwavering strength, she helped shape her daughter into the strong, resilient woman she is today.

Margaret Mary O'Reilly will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her strength, and her unwavering determination to live life on her own terms. Margie was steadfast in her beliefs and was unapologetically herself. She was honest, loyal, and courageous. Her Irish accent will be deeply missed, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, especially her daughter.

In accordance with her wishes, a private cremation will reflect the independent spirit with which she lived her life and honoring her desire for a simple and peaceful farewell. Her daughter and son-in-law will be bringing her home to Ireland, where she always hoped to return, to be laid to rest in her homeland.
