Marlon Dean Haney

Marlon Dean Haney, a devoted man of God and beloved by many, went home to be with the Lord on January 7, 2026, at the age of 70.Marlon lived in Cartersville, Georgia, where he spent most of his working life as a welder, fabricator, and machinist. Known for his strong work ethic and skill, he retired four years ago after a long and respected career.He was a man who genuinely loved people. With an outgoing personality and a warm spirit, Marlon never met a stranger. His kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. At the age of 20, Marlon gave his heart to God and dedicated the remainder of his life to serving the Lord. For more than 30 years, he faithfully served in prison ministry in Bartow County and ministered in prisons across the United States. He deeply cherished his Bible, the teachings of Jesus Christ, and the calling God placed on his life. Above all else, Marlon treasured his family—especially his wife of 27 years, Sheryl Haney—along with his church family and his many dear friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Sheryl Haney; his mother, Mamie Jo Roland; his sister, Patricia Murphy; and his brother, Jeffrey Heath. He is also survived by his children: Gracie Lynn Clegg Haney; Keith McGarity and wife Shannon; Brittiney Lorraine Clegg; Callisa Samuela Hight; Neal McWhorter and wife Heather McWhorter; and Toni and Ronald Merritt. Marlon was a proud grandfather to Juniper, Noah, Melissa, Jessica, Wesley, Jasmine, Yasmain, Kaylle, Alexis, Brady, and Maddie, and a cherished great-grandfather to Caeden, Karsen, Lily, Piper, Addelyn, and Alyza. He was preceded in death by his sisters Rita Baxter and Linda Dover; his brother Robert Harold Roland Jr.; his stepfather Harold Roland; and his father Milton Haney.
Marlon's Funeral will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, 2:00 PM, at Creekside Fellowship Church, 585 Old Alabama Rd SE, Cartersville, GA 30120. The family will receive friends for a viewing and visitation at the church from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Pastor Mike Abernathy officiating.
Marlon will be deeply missed by the countless lives he touched here on earth. While our hearts mourn his passing, we rejoice in knowing that Heaven has gained a truly special man of God.
