Mary Reith Hill

Mary Reith Hill, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Acworth, GA on Friday, August 12, 2022.

Mary was born on January 13, 1939, in Atlanta, GA to Mary Williams Reith and Warren John Reith from Atlanta, GA.  She was the youngest child of three, growing up in Atlanta, graduating from Southwest High School and when she and her cousins Karen, Bonnie, and Julia weren’t learning dance lessons from her older brother Warren Jr., Mary was working in her father’s Diner, the Magic Grill in downtown Atlanta.  She married Clifford Daniel Hill in 1958 and her family settled in Lakeland, Florida in the early ’60s through the ’70s and returned to Atlanta in the mid-1980s, where they became lifelong members of the community.

Mary lived life to the fullest and touched many with her kindness, tenderness, fun personality, and her genuine love for others.  Her large circle of loved ones included her late Husband of 63 years, Dan Hill, 3 children, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and an extended family of siblings, cousins, and in-laws who grew up together enjoying many frequent family gatherings and events.   She was also blessed with the joy of having many neighbors and friends.  She loved dancing, painting, bowling, and music, especially her favorites Elvis, Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, and Frank Sinatra.

She is survived by her children John Michael Hill and wife Charlene, James Warren Hill, and wife Stephanie, Elizabeth Ann Nelson and her husband David, sister-in-Law Ann Reith, Nephew Lee Reith, and Niece’s Donna Reith and Rhonda Donahue.  She loved most of all her role as mother, and Grandmother to Drew, David, Sarah, Samantha, Annie, Erin, and Stefi, as well as great grandmother to Hayden, Dayna, Nathan, Dreylan, Jaiden, Riley, Jace, and Hudson.

She is preceded in death by her late husband Dan Hill, her parents, Warren and Mary Reith, Dan’s parents Louise and Meyer Segal, brothers Warren Jr., Earl, and Donald Reith, brother’s in law Homer and Ronald Hill, sisters-in-law Enid and Wilma Hill, Niece’s Anita and Nancy Hill, and Nephew’s Russell and Ken Hill.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 16th at Georgia Funeral Care in Acworth, GA at 3:00 pm, preceded by a visitation at 2:00 pm.   There will be a separate burial ceremony at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on a date soon to be determined.
