May 25, 1960 - September 5, 2026
To be absent from us means that Myra is now present with her Lord, where there is no more suffering and no more pain - only joy.
Myra entered into the presence of her Lord on September 5, 2026, at 3:33 p.m.
Myra Ann Oliver Morris, of Acworth, Georgia, was born May 25, 1960. She was the daughter of the late John Oliver Morris and Hazel Ann Morris and the baby girl of her family.
To know Myra was to love her. She was spunky, strong, brave, quick-witted, and always ready to laugh. And if Myra loved you, you knew it. In fact, you probably heard “I LOVE YOU!” at least three times before she let you get off the phone.
Myra had a servant’s heart and found joy in serving and caring for the people around her. She had her own special ways of making sure those she loved were taken care of and never forgotten. She would call to remind you that Daylight Saving Time was coming and that you needed to change your clocks. When your birthday came around, she wanted to be the first one to wish you a happy birthday. The same went for every holiday - whatever the occasion, Myra was going to make sure you heard from her.
And when it came to her own birthday, one day simply wasn’t enough. Myra believed in celebrating for the entire month of May!
She loved gardening and had a special affection for her plants. Myra believed talking to them was some of the best care she could give them. She loved the color red, red birds, listening to music, playing dice, and spending time with family and friends.
Throughout her life, Myra built lasting friendships in Georgia and during the years she lived in Corpus Christi and San Angelo, Texas. Wherever she went, she had a way of connecting with people, sharing laughter, and making sure those around her knew they were loved.
Above all, Myra loved Jesus. He was the anchor to her soul and the source of the strength that carried her through the hard things of this life. She faced those hard things with a smile on her face and her head held high. Even in her final days, Myra had peace - and she was still making people laugh with that quick wit of hers.
Her children, Dale Oliver, Rebecca (Skip) Long and Stephen Keith, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were among the greatest sources of pride in her life. To her grandchildren, she was lovingly known as “Maw Maw” and “Grandma.”
Myra also shared her life with her siblings, Johnny Morris, Vivian Ritter, Tony (Jeanine) Morris, and Angie (Lee) Woodie. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.O. and Hazel Morris; her brother, Jeffery Morris; and her granddaughter, Savanna.
Music had a special place in Myra’s life, and I Can Only Imagine held particular meaning for her. Today, the words and message of that song carry a different weight as those who love her imagine what she no longer has to imagine.
There will be no public memorial service. Myra will be cremated, and her immediate family will gather privately for a graveside service.
There are many things that could be said about a life, but perhaps Myra herself would know best how to end this.
To her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and the many friends she gathered along the way, her final message would undoubtedly be the same one she made sure they heard over and over throughout her life:
“I LOVE YOU!”
