Myrna Wray (Broome) Lanier, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 5:48 pm, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Myrna entered into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by the love of her two sons and her devoted niece, who were by her side throughout her battle and when she took her final breath. Her unwavering faith was the most important part of her life, and we find comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of our Lord.
Above all in this life, Myrna was a dedicated mother to her boys. She was deeply rooted in her faith and the love of God and her family. She was a medical sales manager, a collector of antiques, and a wonderful cook, but the role she cherished most was that of being a mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was fiercely proud of her family and cherished every moment spent celebrating weddings, graduations, births, and accomplishments. Her love of Christmas and the excitement she always had celebrating the birth of Jesus will leave a legacy with our entire family. She leaves behind a family who will forever treasure her memory, the love she gave freely and felt deeply, and the place she will always hold in our hearts.
Myrna is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey Max Lanier and his wife, Tracie, of Acworth, Georgia; Joseph Michael Lanier and his wife, Leigh Ann, of Acworth, Georgia. She was the proud grandmother of Haley Lanier Collins (Andrew); Zack Lanier (Milene); Brittney Lanier; and Connor Lanier (Madison). She is also survived by her loving niece and devoted caretaker, Amy London (Mark), of Gray, Georgia, whose love and care were a blessing to Myrna and her sons.
She is also survived by her brother, Jim Broome, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and loving sisters Diana and Susan, both of Cleveland, Georgia. Myrna remained close with her siblings throughout her life, and she was comforted in the ability to spend her last days visiting with Jim and Susan. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who have meant so much to her.
Myrna was preceded in death by her husband, John Max Lanier; her parents, Reverend Ralph Henry Broome and Willene Broome; and her sister Jane.
Though her family will desperately miss her, they take comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and the knowledge that her earthly struggles have ended. Her life was a testament to endurance, resilience, and the importance of faith, family, and love. We are comforted knowing that she was met by Jesus with open arms, saying:
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant” – Matthew 25:21
