Nancy Zerbe

February 4, 1936 — June 21, 2025

Cartersville, GA

Nancy John Cason Zerbe, 89, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025.

Nancy was born on February 4, 1936, in Birmingham, Alabama to John and Sally Cason. She attended the University of Mississippi where she became an ardent fan of the Ole Miss Rebels football team.

She is survived by her niece, Jeanne Lee, her great niece, Tali Bouskila, her great nephew, Aaron Bouskila and her four grand nieces, Emma Rose and Elsa Lily Bouskila and Vida and Nilah Martinez. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard (Dick) T. Zerbe, and her sister, Sally Love Cason Lee.

Nancy worked in the broadcasting industry at a time when women were not easily accepted in a heavily male dominated field. She went on to run a successful recruiting business. Nancy was an avid volunteer with the local hospital as a Pink Lady. She managed the hospital gift shop for many years and initiated a local support workshop for cancer victims called Camp Monarch. Nancy was an active member of the Cartersville Woman's Club for many years and served as publicity director and club president. Her volunteer spirit was a gift to the Episcopal Church of the Ascension for many years where she was a Sunday School teacher, Vestry member, and served as Altar Guild Director.

As a passionate football fan, Nancy rooted for her Ole Miss Rebels even when they played Dick's favorite team, the UGA Dawgs. Nancy adored her precious four-legged children (both cats and dogs), especially her constant companion terrier, Cason. She loved to play bridge with friends and enjoyed traveling to California to visit her family.

A celebration of life will be held at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 201 West Cherokee Avenue, Cartersville, Georgia on Saturday, July 12 at 1:00pm. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
