| Richard S. Volkert, a man of steady hands and a famously kind heart and sense of humor, passed away on March 1, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on August 7, 1951, Richard lived a life defined by his willingness to help others and his ability to find beauty in things that needed a little extra care. Known to many as a "fixer," one of Richard’s passions was restoring cars—patiently bringing old engines back to life. When he wasn’t under a hood, he could be found by the water, enjoying a quiet day of fishing. Beyond his hobbies, Richard was a man of routine and loyalty; he cherished his weekly Thursday meet-ups with his friends, a tradition that centered on good company and his trademark sense of humor. Above all, Richard was a devoted family man. He shared a beautiful life with his wife, Charmaine, and took immense pride in his daughter, Valerie. His greatest joy in recent years was his role as a grandfather to Ada and Iris, who will grow up hearing stories of their grandfather’s kindness and his knack for making people laugh. Richard was a "helper" in the truest sense—the person you called when you were in a bind, knowing he would show up with a smile and a solution. His absence will be deeply felt by his family and his wide circle of friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Charmaine; his siblings Donna and Hal; his daughter, Valerie; his son-in-law, Jared; and his cherished granddaughters, Ada and Iris. The family will be holding a private celebration of life in May but others are welcome to post on https://www.kudoboard.com/boards/R07tD9kZ. |
