After retiring from the Marine Corps on July 1, 1978, Roland continued his commitment to national defense through the Army Reserves. There he served with distinction until his retirement as a Sergeant First Class (E7) on October 26, 1995.Following his active military service, Roland transitioned seamlessly into a civilian aviation career. He began with the iconic Pan American airlines, where he would meet his wife, Ursula. He flew for Delta Airlines for an impressive 38 years, bringing the same level of professionalism and reliability to commercial flight that had defined his military tenure.
