In Loving Memory of Ronnie McFarland
Ronnie McFarland, known affectionately as Ron, passed away on September 16, 2026, at the age of 59. Born on May 18, 1967, at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Sally B. Taylor and Walter McFarland, and his brother, Tony McFarland.
A proud graduate of George Washington High School, class of 1985, Ron was an avid athlete who excelled in sports. Football was his first love (#GoBroncos), followed closely by track and field, where he particularly enjoyed competing in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. After graduating, Ron moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he built a career with over 22 years of service for the Department of Homeland Security as a Transportation Security Administration Federal Emergency Response Official. He took pride in his life achievements and in the work that he did.
Ron loved travel and adventure, especially throughout the Caribbean and Central America. Whether discovering new destinations or returning to favorite places, he welcomed every opportunity to experience different cultures.
One of the most distinctive things about Ron was the elaborate tattoo on his upper right arm, which he embellished over the years. It depicted chains linked together and breaking apart, reflecting his life motto: "Breaking bad habits." To Ron, it was a powerful symbol of personal growth, resilience, and the ongoing journey of becoming a better version of oneself.
Loving Family
Ron is survived by his sisters, Pamela Kendrick and Chressa McFarland; his brother, Rickey McFarland; his nephew, Eric; and his nieces, Tanika and X
Zavia, who were like daughters to him. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces Breanna and Varehya; great-nieces Ty'Aja, Takayla, and Camryn; close cousins Aquila, Jan, and Lajuana; God-sister Sonia; and many other cherished relatives.
Friends and Community
Ron will be deeply missed by his close friends, neighbors, and his TSA, FedEx, and Home Depot families.
Everyone who knew Ron will lovingly remember him as genuine, caring, and trustworthy- overall a great person. His determination,unwavering commitment to overcoming life's obstacles, and lastingimpact on those closest to him will remain enduring parts of his legacy.
