Sarun Dith

December 28, 1936 — September 14, 2025

White, GA

Sarun Dith was born on December 28, 1936, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to Dith Rom and Nhem Saroeun. As the eldest of seven siblings, Sarun embraced responsibility and led with strength and care, setting an example for his family from a young age.

A passionate musician, Sarun’s early years were filled with the rhythm of jazz and rock as he toured with a band alongside his siblings. His music touched many hearts, reflecting his free spirit and love for life. Later, Sarun used his intellect and leadership skills to teach and empower others, earning the respect of many in his community.

In 1960, Sarun met the love of his life, Karin Nhem. Together, they built a beautiful family, but the tragedy of the Khmer Rouge regime forever changed their world. During those dark years, they lost six of their children—five daughters and one son. Despite this immense sorrow, Sarun and Karin’s love for each other and their surviving children remained unwavering. They carried their grief with dignity, turning pain into strength and hope into action.

In 1982, Sarun and Karin were resettled in Oklahoma City, where they continued to build a new life for themselves and their six remaining children and welcomed two more children by the end of 1985. Sarun’s perseverance, work ethic, and love for his family inspired everyone around him.

Sarun leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and unwavering faith in the power of family. He is survived by his eight children, 17 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries his spirit forward.

Now reunited with Karin and their six lost children, Sarun’s journey continues in our hearts. You will forever be in our hearts, and we will miss you deeply. Your love, strength, and memory will live on in all of us.
