SEFIK KARTAL

(DOB- 06/01/1952)

Sefik Kartal 71, of Acworth, GA passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday December 10th, 2023 at his home in Acworth. Born to mother Dervisa Kartal & father Hamdija Kartal, he was raised in former Yugoslavia (now Bosnia and Herzegovina) where he met his beautiful wife Dubravka.Soon after marriage he started a family splitting time between Bosnia and Germany.

He became a first-generation immigrant to the United States in 1998, moving his wife and adolescent children from Europe to the United States in search of “The American Dream”, trying to better the lives of his family.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Dubravka Kartal, and 2 children Sejla and Aldijano (Aj). His memory will be forever cherished by his 5 grandchildren, Dillon, Nico, Adrian, Bella, Ace and son in law Sam and daughter in law Ashley, his many siblings, friends, and family still in Europe.

Sefik, held many jobs during his lifetime becoming the “jack of all trades” owning multiple companies throughout his lifetime in construction, timber harvesting and trucking. He was a one-man wrecking crew in his youth with a chainsaw and continued to drive his own trucks while owning his own trucking business often taking team loads while it was just him in the truck.

He “retired” from trucking in the summer of 2018 to join the family construction business and held various titles with-in the company while ultimately settling in on his childhood “cowboy” dream which consisted of trucking for the construction company and grading, timber harvesting and farming for the family ranch.

He was “Old School” before anyone coined the term, and he leaves behind a legacy of infallible integrity, strength, honor and dignity. He loved laughing, roasting lamb in the backyard, drinking with family and friends and spending time with his five grandchildren. For those who truly knew him he was salt to the earth, believed that nothing in life is ever given and that you must work for it.
