Tammy Lewis Lade

June 22, 1962 — February 17, 2026

Canton, GA

Tammy Victoria Lewis/Lade, beloved wife, mother, step mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend passed away on February 17, 2026 at the age of 63.

Tammy was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 22, 1962 to Ellen Thompson Sanford and Rev. Charles Ben Sanford.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Jim Lade, her daughter, Kristen Lewis, stepsons Justin and Brandon Lade, mother, Ellen Wood, brother, Mark Craig Sanford, grandchildren, Margo Lade and Chloe Hunt, many extended family members, friends and neighbors who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Charles Lewis in 2000.

Tammy graduated from Forest Park High School and proceeded into a career in cosmetology. When Tammy learned she was expecting Kristen, she opted for a stay-at-home career doing in-home daycare so she could raise Kristen in a home atmosphere. All her daycare children were her “adopted kids” and loved her dearly and kept up with her for years afterwards.

In 1997, Tammy’s late husband, Charles was diagnosed with inoperable colon cancer and was recommended for Hospice care. Tammy cared tirelessly for “Chuck” at home during his entire illness, until his death in 2000, all the while maintaining a daycare business by herself in the same home.

Tammy met Jim in 2003, and they married in 2006. They had many adventures during that time that included their honeymoon to Canada in the winter of 2006, many beach trips, mountain cabins, deep sea fishing and numerous outings with their grown children and grandchildren.

Tammy loved the outdoors, including gardening, planting and arranging flowers, and just sitting on her bedroom deck, watching the birds and animals in her yard and woods beyond, especially her hummingbirds that she attracted and fed year after year. She delighted in hearing their “chirps” and was even able to get a few to land on her arm while she talked to them.

She was also a music fan be it modern pop from the 1970’s or ‘80’s, some country (She was in love with Vince Gill, sorry Amy!). But her first love was gospel music. She enjoyed hours of listening to her favorite CD’s or on TV. She loved God, had an unshakeable faith and now rests with his Angels as she always knew she would.

A Celebration of Life Service will be Held Monday February 23, 2026 at 3:00 PM from the Georgia Funeral Care Chape 4671 S. Main Street Acworth, GA 30101 with Pastor Randy Brooks officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm till 3:00 pm.

Tammy will always be remembered for her warmth, her smile, her willingness to always help someone else and her limitless devotion to her family and friends.
