Thomas Wayne Sanders

Thomas Wayne Sanders, age 81, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away at his home on the morning of May 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Wayne was born on November 1, 1944, in Mobile, Alabama. He moved with his family to Georgia in 1969 and settled in Cartersville in 1979, where he would spend the rest of his life.

On August 16, 1964, Wayne married his high school sweetheart, Ann, and they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted family man with a very kind heart. He took great pride in being a father to his four children and a loving grandfather and great-grandfather. Wayne was known for his quiet strength, wisdom, and vast knowledge of a wide range of topics.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, LT and Ella Ray Sanders, and by his daughter, Becky Davidson, whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Sanders; his sons, Tommy Sanders (Kim), Steven Sanders (Brandy), Greg Sanders (Michelle), and Robert Davidson (son-in-law); ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Wendell and Mark Sanders.

As a dedicated and extremely hard worker, Wayne devoted long hours to provide for his family. He became a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating Step & Fetch It convenience store in Cartersville. He completed a BBA in Accounting from Kennesaw State University while successfully growing his business. He retired in 2012.

Wayne had many passions that brought him joy throughout his life. He was an avid reader with a deep interest in history, politics, and finance. He loved music and was a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan who rarely missed a game. Above all, he cherished every moment spent with his loving wife and family.

In honor of Wayne’s wishes, there will be a small family gathering to share memories and celebrate his life.
