William Daniel “Dan” Snipes, age 50, of Dublin, Georgia, passed away on March 4, 2026.

Dan was born on August 14, 1975, in Marietta, Georgia, to John and Cheryl Snipes. A proud American, Dan began his service to his country in the United States Marine Corps in 1994 and was honorably discharged in 1998 reaching the rank of Corporal. During his service, he was stationed at several bases including Camp Pendleton in California, Camp Kinser in Okinawa, Japan, and Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. His time in the Marines reflected his strong sense of duty, leadership, honor, and commitment to others.

Following his military service, Dan dedicated himself to education. He attended Kennesaw State University, where he earned all four of his education degrees, including his Bachelor’s, Master’s, Specialist, and Doctorate degrees, completing his doctoral degree in July 2015.

Dan went on to serve in the Cherokee County School System for 12 years, from 2006 to 2018, where he worked as a high school history teacher, softball coach, and Assistant Principal. Throughout his career in education, he was known for his dedication to his students, his leadership among colleagues, and his passion for mentoring young people. From 2014 to 2018, he also served as an adjunct professor at Kennesaw State University, helping prepare future educators for the classroom.

Those who knew Dan will remember his warm personality and generous spirit. He was funny, caring, and the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. Dan was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He had a love for the Atlanta Falcons, Notre Dame football, Christmas Tree Cakes and the timeless humor of Charlie Brown. He had a fondness for the word “plethora,” which he enjoyed working into conversations whenever he could.

Dan will be remembered for the beautiful children he helped create, his loyal service to his country, and his dedication and passion for education and mentorship.

He is survived by his loving parents, John and Cheryl Snipes; his 4 children Brandon, Hannah, Jason, and Charlotte Snipes; their mother Nicole Hart; his brother, Mark Snipes; his nieces, Elizabeth McClellion and Samantha Fleming; and his nephews, Ben, Jackson, and Parker Snipes.

He was preceded in death by his older brother, David Snipes.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Georgia Funeral Care, 4671 South Main Street, Acworth, Georgia 30101.

Dan’s ashes will be interred at Georgia National Cemetery following the visitation at 1:30 pm, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, Georgia 30114.

In his final years, Dan was troubled, lost, and broken, but for those that knew the man he was, he will be deeply missed. May he now find the peace that eluded him, and may those who loved him remember the kindness, laughter, and generosity he shared throughout his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to organizations that support homeless veterans and addiction recovery for veterans.
