William Yeager Davey

Mr. William “Bill” Yeager Davey, age 84, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center in Cartersville, Georgia following a brief illness.

Mr. Davey was born in Cartersville, Georgia to the late Samuel J. Davey and Myrtie B. Davey on April 6, 1939.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra S. Davey, his parents and one sister, Angeline D. Evans.

Survivors include his son, William Gregory Davey (Julie); daughter, Jennifer Davey Belisle (Thomas); grandchildren, Daniel Belisle, Sydney Davey Ray, Andrew Belisle (Anna-Kay), Nick Belisle and Justin Davey (Mackensey); and two great-grandchildren, McKinley Ray and Kade Ray.

Mr. Davey was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a larger-than-life personality and never met a stranger. He brought much joy, light and laughter to all of those that knew him. He had a great love for the outdoors and loved to hike and backpack.

He was a member of the Appalachian Trail Club for many years and helped to maintain a section of the trail during his younger years. He also loved to ride motorcycles, scuba dive and fish.

Mr. Davey was a member of the Church of the Ascension.

After graduating high school, Mr. Davey served in the Navy as a radio man. He loved to tell of his time over seas and the time he spent there. Following that he attended the Georgia Institute of Technology for a period of time and was an avid Tech fan. After leaving Tech, he went to work for his father at A&D Machine Shop, Inc., where he would eventually become CEO and owner.

A private service for Mr. Davey will be held at a later date.

“What once was enjoyed and deeply loved,

We can never lose,

For all that we love deeply

Becomes part of us.”
